We had a wonderful time with this enPatagonia Tour. Millaray has been very helpful and informative about the itinerary, meeting place, etc. We enjoyed the beautiful region of Northern Patagonia. The guide Jorge is a super knowledgeable professional guide and provided so much information about the Chilean people, nature, and culture. The driver Roberto is a safe driver who can drive through the van on narrow old bridges just like the cruise ship captains go through Panama Canal!
We were picked up at the main plaza, a few minutes walk from the tender pier. We first headed to Puerto Aysen to see Chile’s largest suspension bridge over Rio Simpson. It was a nice drive passing through a fishing village, manicured houses with lots of roses in their yard, gorgeous mountains etc.
Next stop was the Reserva Rio Simpson. The visitor center was well organized with many photos, plants samples, and taxidermy of the regional animals including a Condor. Jeorge explained the display in English (all the information in the center is in Spanish) then we took a short stroll along the river. What a view - tall rock formations, flowers, trees and plants unique to this region and the Rio Simpson! Then a quick stop at Cascade de Las Virgin. We found out the beauty of Chile and decided to come back to see more.
After the stroll, we headed to the highlight of the tour - visiting a Pangal. We were first welcomed by two beautiful horses at the gate. Then Millaray, her mom, and nice family members and the dancers were at the farm house with pisco sour and sopapilla, bread. We had a salmon dish and a lamb dish prepared by Millaray’s mom. Very GOOD Chilean wine was served with the delicious lunch. We enjoyed the performance of Chilean national dance, Cueca, and Chamame performed by the local students.
After lunch, we walked around the farm and had a chance to taste Millaray’s brother’s microbrewery on site. We bought all 3 types of good beer available at the time - we are enjoying them on the cruise ship now.
I was able to pet two cute dogs and fed a calf milk.
We felt like we visited our own family. Huge difference from a large group tours with the cruise ship.
We highly recommend EnPatagonia’s tour. Take the longer tour which stops in Puerto Aysen!
It was a lovely day out with our guide and driver. We got to see the river, waterfalls and ended the day with a meal and visit to a local farm and enjoyed the meal and the dancing. It felt like a personal experience. Well worth the money and time but it did help that the weather was amazing. Thank you
We travel a lot and this was without a doubt a standout tour & experience. Our knowledgable guide & the skills of the driver set the stage for a good tour learning local history, seeing historic sights as expected. But the experience of visiting a private family Farm to Table residence/business was outstanding. Held in covered open air dining room comfortably set tables for 4 each with bottle of local wine & fresh flowers. Greeted with Pisco Sours & appetizer we watched the completion of our lamb entree cooked over open fire. Local young couple in native dress demonstrated local dances. But the truly unique experience was arriving & leaving on unpaved mountain road & crossing a single lane suspension bridge with weight limits requiring passengers unload and walk the bridge then rebound after the van crossed!!! What a memory maker. LOVED THIS ADVENTURE
This Puerto Chacabuco excursion with enPatagonia Tours was unforgettable — featuring a stunning river, waterfall, and Northern Patagonia’s breathtaking scenery. A delicious meal at Quincho Aquelarre with BBQ lamb, salmon or empanadas, Pisco Sour, Chilean wine, and a lively dance show made it the perfect mix of nature, culture, and local charm.
